Abdullah Akyuz

Facilitator, World Religions in Istanbul

Abdullah Akyüz brings an illustrious career in Turkish finance and international business to his role as Facilitator for World Religions in Istanbul. He has held prominent positions at the Capital Markets Board and the Istanbul Stock Exchange, and was founding President of TUSIAD's Washington, DC representative office, where he built relationships between American and Turkish government officials, business leaders, and policy institutions. He is a graduate of Galatasaray, the Faculty of Political Science at Ankara University, UC Davis, and the Wharton School, and has published three books and numerous articles on finance, economics, and US-Turkish relations.

He currently serves as an economic advisor and continues to teach as an adjunct professor at George Washington University's School of Business.

Abdullah's interests include the economic and financial history of the late Ottoman and early Republican periods, along with gastronomy and travel. He has visited over 75 countries and counting, and looks forward to sharing his experiences and ideas with Elective students.
